August 4, 2007 - 3rd Annual Beyond Our Walls Community And Family Day

It was another successful "Big Event!" Thanks to some really generous people, we were able to serve more than 500 families. We provided them with free school supplies, free food, and free clothing to get their school year started off right!. The kids had a blast exploring the Portsmouth Fire Department's engine, and they also had a great time eating sno-cones and jumping on the inflatable. We are so grateful to the following people and corporations who helped to make this event a major success:

UniFirst - uniform rental and supply
Norfolk Plant &

December 24, 2006 - Christmas Angel Toy Giveaway

ChainBreakers, Inc. had the wonderful opportunity to be a blessing to the children of Portsmouth, Virginia. Thanks to a very generous donation of toys from the Corporate Landing Middle School family and NTelos, a national communications company that generously supports the communities where its offices are located, we were able to provide Christmas gifts to nearly 20 children, who otherwise would have had few or no gifts on Christmas day. It was heartwarming to see the smiles, and expressions of relief on the faces of parents, knowing that their child would have gifts for Christmas. We've posted just a few of the pictures, so you can enjoy, too!  Thank you CLMS and NTelos!

August 5, 2006 - The Second Annual "Beyond Our Walls" Community and Family Day

Another success! The second year of our "big event" was a hit. We served nearly 500 Portsmouth residents, giving out free food, school supplies, clothing and treats. The kids had a great time on the inflatable amusements, and had a blast exploring the fire engine and motorcycle shared with us by the Portsmouth Fire and Police Departments. Even better, the human service agencies that participated were able to share in-person information with our community. Many thanks to the Titmus Foundation, The Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia, participating agencies, and all those who volunteered and helped to make this day a huge success!
