ChainBreakers, Inc.  envisions our organization as a highly visible entity in our community, well known by residents, business owners, and city officials as a source of help.

Child Care

We are currently instituting a program to provide day care for low-income young women who are still in school and evening childcare for young women who are pursuing alternative education.

After-School Program and Summer Camps

Low-income families will be able to rely on ChainBreakers to provide positive programs for their children while parents work during after school hours and during the summer.  Youth will be provided with tutoring and mentorship and will be engaged in recreational activities, as well as instruction in the creative arts.

Education

We will support lifelong learning by providing educational programs, courses and workshops for low-income adults, which will include  GED programs and Computer Literacy courses.

Workforce Development

Our organization will provide services which address these necessary skills and information, such as Professional Conduct, Entrepreneurship, Interview Skills and Strategies, Popular Office Software training, and Employment Search assistance.

Substance Abuse Recovery and Prevention

In the coming months and years, ChainBreakers will provide forums for programs like Alcoholics Anonymous, as well as Al –Anon/Alateen, to help youth who are affected by drug abuse.

Finance Management

By working with financial counselors and planners and attending courses provided by ChainBreakers, families can learn how to manage their household finances and to teach their children to become fiscally responsible adults.

Affordable Housing

ChainBreakers, Inc. will purchase and renovate homes and provide them to low- to moderate-income families, who have been counseled about financial responsibility and purchasing their first home.

Community Technology and Learning Center

All of our services will be housed in dedicated facility, that will be located in the city of Portsmouth.  This center will not only provide low-income families with a centralized location to which they can come to find all of the information they need, the center will also create jobs which will be filled by the low-income residents we serve.

Sustainability

It is important to our organization to create sources of income that will provide us with longevity.  To accomplish this, we will provide some services to the community for a nominal fee, such as our childcare services, some educational courses, as well as our finance management, and homeownership programs.
